Unashamedly Rowan

Well this last weekend has been mainly been about Rowan. No 3, hubby, Poppy and Rowan came for the weekend, from Bristol. The idea being that the great grandparents could get to meet Rowan. But first let me show you some pictures they bought with them. This was Rowan - two days old.

And my favourite:

Now lots of preparation had gone into getting the great grandparents together and much thought into food preparation etc etc. But Rowan was not going to fit in with the arrangements. He decided to get out of his cot on the wrong side and just spend most of the day howling! Sadly the relatives only got to hold him for a matter of seconds. But then Sunday he went back to his gorgeous self.

He went to church and behaved himself and then he had his first trip to the Fabric Guild! Got to start him young!

Apologies for the blurring but I loved the way Poppy had collapsed onto my crochet blankie after No 3 got up for a few minutes.

I love the way Rowan pulls so many funny faces - here's just a few:-

Now I said I'd been trying to finish a project well here is two out of the four of them. But my son-in-law being a little rude with them!

Cheeky man!

Now Mr P decided to play the piano - which I really love but so do the chickens and Poppy!

And finally last picture of Rowan before he went home.

Farewell Summer

I have become acutely aware that the weather has  turned away from summer and heading towards autumn. Started noticing the evenings getting darker earlier :( Then the last few days I have noticed the darker mornings. In fact this morning my alarm clock woke me up and I was still zzzzzing away. That old struggling to get out of bed routine has begun again. We have had the central heating on!

The chickens, too, are declaring autumn is beginning. They have started their moult, so I guess this will mean less eggs!

I do not seem to be able to read books - guess it's to do with time etc. But I have been able to enjoy a story book. And oh this one was soooo sweet. It was very easy to listen to and compulsive listening as the author flicks backwards and forwards into the lives of her characters. I know it probably isn't the most challenging read, but you know what I don't care - it was enjoyable! I have read other books by this author and have enjoyed them all.

Oh well time to get dressed and head off to work. Have a good weekend all of you.

Lost My Way

Sorry for so few blogs but I feel as if I am rather out of my usual routines of life. I think it started with the arrival of baby number one. It seemed as if all my weekends went and during the week having to play catch up with paid work due to the time I missed with the birth. Then just as I thought things were getting back on track and I made my first return visit to the swimming pool I then became ill. The virus really took its toll and I would say even 10 days later I am still recovering. So consequently there has been NO visits to the pool. Last weekend was full on with the trip to Leeds to help with the new twins.

Someone asked me about my cooking challenge and whilst I have used some more books since the last update I am well behind with my schedule! I daren't count how many books I have left - burying my head in the sand here, as I know it is bad!

Crafting too has taken a back seat and the project I had almost completed is still only slightly more almost completed!

I feel as if I am just about managing to keep my head above water but it has been a struggle and my physical health has taken a bit of a battering in various ways that I will not go into.

I guess I am just not super woman - and have to acknowledge that I am a granny and not a young girl anymore! I kind of expect my body to do what it has been doing for years and not get tired! Daft really when you think about it, but I am my own worst enemy.

This weekend No 3, hubby, Rowan and dog are coming for the weekend, along with my father in law and wife, and my dad. Mr P has promised me that he is going to help me as he realises that his superwoman has lost some of her batteries! More cuddles with Rowan - whooppee.

Oh to be young again with that never ending energy, but as I have said before that is why you need to have babies when you are younger.

Golly it sounds as if I am whinging - sorry I'm not well only in the sense that I am disappointed with my body! My head is just full of happiness, pure delight that I have been given three beautiful, healthy grandchildren and the mommies are well, so in love with my hubby and all my family, have some wonderful friends, God in my life, great home, fantastic job etc etc.

Meeting The Twins

Well this week that's gone by has been somewhat eventful. It started with a horrible bug which left me feeling rather drained for most of the week. I went into survival mode - work, rest and trying to eat. I managed to struggle into John Lewis collections to pick up my anniversary present. Its is something that I have been wanting for years...........

Just look how large the box is! I had to get the shop assistant carry it to the car - I just didn't have enough energy. Then back at home it was several days before I had the energy to open the box. Rather sad because under normal circumstances it would have been opened and used within hours.

Oooh it looks sooo exciting food mixer and blender! Can't wait to have the time and energy to enjoy my present. Thank you Mr P for my wonderful presie - worth being married 35 years!

Then Friday came and I journeyed up north to meet my new grandchildren. Still in hospital waiting to be discharged as the slightly bigger twin had jaundice. Eventually by 10.30pm we were all home and then started the fun/chaos. Bottles to be sterilised, milk powder to be measured, water to be boiled and cooled etc etc. I have never bottle fed so was astounded at the work involoved - so much easier to breast feed, but not an option for these girlies.

Golly I forgot to tell you how overwhelming it was to first walk into the ward and see your son and daughter-in-law with two babies.

I think this baby is Karis

And this is Sophia. It's all a bit confusing as they are identical! So to help identify them mum and dad keep placing Karis(1st twin) on the left and Sophia(2nd twin) on the right. Also clothe Karis in patterned babygrows and Sophia in white ones. Out of devilment I did threaten to muddle them up!

Sophia drunk on milk!

Can't get over seeing two babies. Their combined weight is still less than Nemo! He apparently is doing really well and has gained over 4lb in 4 weeks - all on mommy's milk! Get to see him next weekend. Well I'm going to work tomorrow for a break! Babies are definitely for the younger folk!

More apologies for a very brief posting but still not feeling too good BUT thought you might like to hear the very good news that my very clever daughter-in-law has given birth today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The girls were born at 13:12 and 13:21 weighing 5lb 7oz and 5lb 13oz, no names yet. All of them doing well.

Oooooooh I can't wait till the weekend to go and meet them. Three babies in four weeks - wow!

One Day and One Night in Walberswick

Having not had a summer holiday I jumped at the opportunity to go away to the seaside for one night. We were hoping to have stayed a night somewhere in Norfolk but as I tried phoning various camp sites it became obvious that there was no space. Really hard to believe there was no space on a camp site in the whole of Norfolk. So the nearest available campsite was just into Suffolk and we jumped at the booking space. It is not an area that we know and it made even more fun to go somewhere new. So after Mr P finished church on Sunday we headed off and I knew it was just sooo right to be doing as as we drove away from Leicester the sun started to come out and by the time we arrive 3 hours later it is to a sunny, warm campsite. It was also a first for our Quecha tent, otherwise known as our "boing" tent, to be used in England. It is only used to being put up in France.

The beauty of our tent is it is up within minutes and it didn't take very long to unpack the car. We are very much cheaters when it comes to bedding - we take caravan bedding cushions to lie on and the quilt off our bed comes too! After a late afternoon lunch and a cuppa we head off to Walberswick.

Having never been here before we decide to take a walk around the coast and head off along the path to the beach - where we saw this sign. Mmmmm

As we followed the coast we then were greeted with this beautiful estuary and we couldn't help but carry on walking by its side.

It was a little bit hazy at this time but somehow it made it more romantic. Anyway this walk led us to a bridge where we crossed and decided it would be fun to walk into Southwold, even though we were only wearing sandals! This signpost amused us as Methodists are supposed to be teetotal!

We had a quick walk around part of the town and then joined a huge queue for what appears to be the only chip shop in Southwold. It was well worth the wait - can't beat fish and chips at the seaside. Then we had to walk back partly in the dark.

Monday woke up to beautiful sunshine. I was glad I had bought some bacon and sausages to fry on our one burner gas stove - everything tastes sooo much better when its cooked under these conditions. We opened up our wedding anniversary cards and then packed up the tent. The day warming up and we head back to Walberswick to spend time lazing on the beach.

Discovered that Walberswick is a favourite spot for families to do some crabbing. We used to enjoy this activity too when our children were small. The only difference being is that now you can buy small netted bags with bait in rather than cutting up dead bits of fish! Oh and also they sell lots of lovely large clear buckets so that you can admire your catch easier! Ooooh I sooooo want to bring my grandchildren here when they are older!

We found a snug spot in between the dunes and there we stayed for the rest of the day. Me doing a bit of hookey and Mr P reading. Oh it was just what we needed. Then after a day of lazing on the beach we walked again to Southwold.

Saw this beach hut for sale - but was shocked at the price!

We spent sooo long walking around Southwold that we ran out of time to eat in a restaurant - you  guessed right we ended up back at the chippie. I'll leave you with this final picture of the lighthouse which is snuggled into this housing area!
